How ICBC covers active rehab after a crash
ICBC pre-approves 12 kinesiology visits in the first 12 weeks after your crash. You don't need a doctor's referral or ICBC's approval first. You need your ICBC claim number and your Personal Health Number.
The 12 weeks count from the date of the crash, not from your first visit. ICBC's fee table sets a minimum of 45 minutes for a kinesiology visit.

Your first visit
Your first ICBC active rehab visit is 60 minutes, one on one with our kinesiologist. It starts with a conversation about what's going on and what you'd like help with. Follow-up visits are 45 minutes.
Bring your claim number and your Personal Health Number, and wear clothes and shoes you can exercise in.
Active rehab alongside other care
ICBC sets its pre-approved visits for each type of practitioner separately, so active rehab can sit alongside physiotherapy or massage therapy on the same claim. If the crash has kept you off work, our Gradual Return to Work program is here too.

Do I need a referral?
No. ICBC says you don't need a referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or approval from ICBC, for pre-approved treatment in the first 12 weeks. You need your claim number and your Personal Health Number.
How many active rehab visits does ICBC pre-approve?
12 kinesiology visits in the first 12 weeks after the crash. After that, ICBC can approve more through your claim.
How long are the visits?
The first visit is 60 minutes. Follow-up visits are 45 minutes.
