How ICBC covers physio after a crash
ICBC pre-approves 25 physiotherapy visits in the first 12 weeks after your crash. You don't need a doctor's referral or ICBC's approval first. You need your ICBC claim number and your Personal Health Number.
The 12 weeks count from the date of the crash, not from your first visit.

Your first visit
Your first ICBC physio visit is 45 minutes, one on one with one of our physiotherapists. It starts with a conversation about what's going on and what you'd like help with. Follow-up ICBC visits are 30 minutes.
Bring your claim number, your Personal Health Number and any reports or scans you have. Wear clothes you can move in, and come a few minutes early to fill in a short intake form.
Physio alongside other care
ICBC sets its pre-approved visits for each type of practitioner separately, so physio can sit alongside massage therapy, active rehab or chiropractic care on the same claim. Our front desk can help you fit the visits together.
After the first 12 weeks

Do I need a referral?
No. ICBC says you don't need a referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or approval from ICBC, for pre-approved treatment in the first 12 weeks. You need your claim number and your Personal Health Number.
How many physio visits does ICBC pre-approve?
25 visits in the first 12 weeks after the crash. After that, ICBC can approve more through your claim.
How long are ICBC physio visits?
The first visit is 45 minutes. Follow-up visits are 30 minutes.
